Cursillo

Cursillo, founded in Spain in the 1940s, is a worldwide movement of the Catholic Church with Papal approval by the Holy Father, Pope Paul VI. It is a Spanish term meaning “little course” and provides a way for Christians to grow in faith through prayer, study and action. The Cursillo movement aims to help Christians deepen their faith and live out their Christian calling in their daily lives, fostering a sense of community, and encouraging them to share their faith with others. A core component of the Cursillo movement is a three-day weekend retreat, which begins on a Thursday evening and concludes on the following Sunday evening.

If you have not experienced Cursillo, we invite you to explore the Diocese of Orlando Cursillo website at orlcursillo.org.

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual Direction is a specialized ministry in the Church, and a core function of the Marian Servants. A person might seek a Spiritual Director’s guidance when:

  • They want to develop a deeper relationship with God.
  • Their search for God seems to be at a crossroad.
  • They want to explore new methods of prayer, or when prayer has become difficult.
  • They feel the need for someone to help them discern the call of the Spirit.
  • They feel the need for someone to listen to their concerns about God, and help them along their spiritual journey.
  • They want to discuss other issues of a spiritual, personal nature.

Our Spiritual Directors have a background in ministry, communication skills, personality dynamics, and various resources in prayer, spirituality, and Scripture. They are certified through the Cenacle of Our Lady of Divine Providence School of Spiritual Direction® Program in Clearwater, Florida in association with Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. Both the Spiritual Director and the person seeking guidance agree to meet regularly (usually once a month for up to an hour). Click here to learn more.

Small Christian Communities

Small Christian Communities (SCC) make it possible for individuals to meet and connect with fellow parishioners on a more personal basis.

We are small, faith-sharing communities made up of 8-12 fellow parishioners focusing on our personal faith journeys as they relate to the upcoming Sunday’s liturgical readings with an emphasis on the Gospel message. Through prayer, Gospel reflection, faith sharing and social time, we bond as fellow Christians and parishioners.

SCC is not a Bible study, but, by sharing our faith journey we develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ and open our hearts to the power of the Holy Spirit. In so doing, we enrich our spiritual lives and stay “Christ Centered”.
