Altar Servers
Altar Servers support our priests and deacons during Masses and other liturgical celebrations so that the liturgy can be conducted with grace and reverence. In our parish, both young people and adults may serve as altar servers. They have been called to serve God and His People in this very important liturgical function.
- Responsibilities: Assist the priest and deacon during Mass; provide guidance to less experienced servers.
- Helpful Attributes: Punctuality, attention to detail
- Time Commitment: Arrive 30 minutes before Mass, and serve for the duration of the celebration.
- Meetings: Periodically, as announced.
- Requirements to Join: Ministry training, fingerprinting


Choir
Music stirs the soul in such a deeply personal way that it has become an essential element of Liturgical worship. We are blessed to have some of the best cantors and musicians you will find anywhere. Their musical talents touch hearts and enliven spirits. The combined musical styles of the choral group and musicians inspire the congregation to sing and pray the Mass together. Making “joyful noises unto the Lord” is truly the vocation of the Music Ministry.
- Responsibilities: Attend choir practices. Participate with the other choir members during liturgies and special events.
- Helpful Attributes: A good singing voice, joy in singing
- Time Commitment: Weekly choir practices plus additional practices leading up to major holy days and church celebrations.
- Meetings: Periodically, as announced.
- Requirements to Join: Fingerprinting
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
- Responsibilities: Distribute Holy Communion
- Helpful Attributes: A strong commitment to Christ as evidenced by a life lived in conformity with Church teachings.
- Time Commitment: Varies
- Meetings: Periodically, as announced.
- Requirements to Join: Diocesan training, fingerprinting


Readers
Lay readers serve the Church by volunteering to proclaim the Word of God during Mass. When we hear Our Lord’s word and receive it in our hearts, we may be drawn into dialogue with Him. Readers bring the power of the Word of God and love of scriptures to our congregation.
- Responsibilities: Read, practice and prepare for assigned readings.
- Helpful Attributes: Enjoy public speaking; have a voice that projects well
- Time Commitment: Arrive 30 minutes before Mass, plus preparation time.
- Meetings: Periodically, as announced.
- Requirements to Join: Both Diocese and Ministry training, fingerprinting
Sacristans
Sacristans are the behind-the-scenes people who make many of the necessary preparations for Masses and other liturgical celebrations. They prepare the sacred vessels, and the bread and wine; and ensure that everything is in its proper place.
- Responsibilities: Prepare the altar for Mass. Assist at baptisms, weddings and funerals as necessary.
- Helpful Attributes: An understanding of the liturgy. A desire to learn about sacred articles and their uses, care and storage.
- Time Commitment: Arrive 30 minutes before Mass, and remain approximately 30 minutes afterwards.
- Meetings: Periodically, as announced.
- Requirements to Join: Ministry training (shadowing), fingerprinting


Ushers
Ushers play an important role in ensuring that the Mass is welcoming and comfortable; and runs smoothly. They greet parishioners and visitors, assist those with mobility issues, and help people find seats. They also hand out the bulletins after Mass and send people off with a friendly “good-bye.”
- Responsibilities: Assist and greet parishioners, assist with the Offertory collection, hand out bulletins, and assist parishioners.
- Helpful Attributes: An outgoing and friendly demeanor
- Time Commitment: Arrive 30-40 minutes before Mass, and remain approximately 10-15 minutes afterwards.
- Meetings: Periodically, as announced.
- Requirements to Join: Ministry training, fingerprinting
